Tell us not only where you blog, but why you blog in that place. What makes your space special to you? What would you improve? If you hate it, what are your plans for improvement? If you love it, why?
And since my poor, fried brain is having trouble thinking up original content these past few frazzled weeks, I was eager to have a ready-made topic to write about!
I blog while sitting in a couple of places. Up until recently, I did almost all of my blogging right here (in that big chair).
That’s because I didn’t have an ‘office’ mindset. I would sit in this chair with my laptop and beverage and blog away, often while Mr. Nodakademic sat on the couch nearby doing his own thing. We do not have a TV in this room (even if we did, we don’t subscribe to cable), so it’s a nice quiet place. In the winter, the fireplace is a major bonus too! (Both for the cozy-looking factor and the warmth!) I did most of my homework here too, until this semester. But this year, I’m not just doing homework. I’m doing research. Reading, writing, highlighting, organizing… all the stuff of research. So I needed a real office. Specifically, a place I could go to and sit at a desk and spread out my work and really get things done.
Lucky for me, we already had a room we called an office!

So now, this is where I blog sometimes. Up until a few weeks ago, this room had been somewhat of a dumping ground for things we did not want guests to see. I’ve slowly been cleaning it up and organizing it. It’s definitely a work in progress, but it’s functional and quiet and most importantly, it makes me feel like working. I have all of my books and resources in this room, and it even has a bathroom! (Not shown.)
When [if] I ever finish my grand decorating plans in here, I’ll definitely share the project in detail. (I’ve been taking pictures, of course!) I want art on the walls, a properly-hanging curtain (I took the scissors to the existing one, but have yet to hem it!), a comfortable chair, and a place for Rusty to chill (among other things). But for now, this is it.
So those are a couple of the places where I blog. Where do you blog (or Tweet or Facebook or whatever it is you do socially on the Internet)?

We have one of “those” rooms too– a catchall for stuff (junk) we don’t want anyone else to see. I’m so envious of your nice fireplace! Either spot is a good place to blog. :) I’m visiting from Kate’s “Where I Blog” party. Hope you’ll stop by and say hi. :)
Our catch-all room is the guest bedroom. HAHA Funny huh?! Since we haven’t had a guest yet (been in the house almost a year) we just throw stuff in there. The room was recently purged and picked up since the parents will be staying there over wedding weekend while we are at the cozy lodge hotel. :)
Do you have other photos of the inside of your home up? I know you have your privacy, totally agree, and you won’t post photos of the outside but will you give us a tour of the inside? The warm colors is so inviting and you guys have wood floors, gorgeous, very much our style. We are about to rip out the ugly cream carpet, put in wood floors, replace the nasty faux tan wood builder style trim with hardwood, etc….would love to see what you guys have done!
Oh, and I blog/Internet typically on the couch in the family room down in the basement with the TV on. The big side table lets me spread out my junk!
I have some, but not a ton. I always planned to do some kind of “walkthrough” or tour, but the house is never “done enough”!!

I have one of those rooms too – it’s called my office. I blog from my comfy chair too! I tried the office, but I need to be part of the action in the house!
Our office does tend to catch a lot of \junk\. Our son called it the storage room for a while, which told me that we were approaching hoarder status, lol.
