Hi. I’m Nodakademic. (I’m on the left.)
Here are a few things about me:
- I’m 28.
- My closest blood-relatives live 800 miles away.
- I grew up and graduated from high school in a town under 60 miles away.
- I have lived in 2 states as an adult. For my childhood, add three more (and a province!)
- I wish I were a homemaker instead of a professional/academic (so I try to do both).
- I like shoveling snow.
- I’m 5′ 10″ tall.
- You can have the cake. Give me the frosting.
My husband (hint: he’s the guy in that photo above) and I live in a cute little 82-year-old bungalow:
That’s how it would look if a kindergartener drew it*. (Or uh, a grad student with a tablet PC. Heh.) Our house is in really good shape, but that doesn’t stop me from home-improving it every chance I get. I also enjoy photography, cooking, and taking on an occasional craft when I have the time. You’ll read about all of those things on this blog.
Oh, and this is Tiberius (Rusty):
He’s 3. He used to spend his time rummaging through my best friend’s garbage, but he would rather not talk about it now that he is effectively spoiled rotten.
This is Cleopatra (Cleo):
She’s 1. She suckered us in to bringing her home from one of those cages that Petco lets the humane society keep near its checkout counters.
We are a couple of twenty-something yuppie-minded marrieds (and their spoiled cats) who are working, going to school, being lovey-dovey, and trying to stay sane in the often-cold and always-windy state of North Dakota. This blog is the answer to the question:
How’s THAT working out for you?
Are you new to this blog? If so, here are a handful of posts to familiarize yourself.

I believe the semi-random sampling above sums up a little of where I’m coming from. I’m pretty good about placing posts in categories, so you should be able to easily find the topics that catch your interest!
Recognize me? I used to be Pink Heli, and I’m still Mary Jane.
